This paper presents and discusses an argument that consciousness is not a proper object of scientific investigation.  I won't endorse the argument but I will suggest (a) that the conclusion of the argument could really be true; (b) that the argument may be resisted only at some cost; and (c) that the conclusion of the argument itself has some interesting consequences.
