The conference will focus on hyperintensionality, impossible worlds, and on the connection between the two. A particular focus will be the use of impossible worlds in understanding hyperintensionality: for example, in providing fine-grained accounts of meaning and content that distinguish necessarily equivalent expressions. A related focus will be the understanding of nontrivial impossible worlds: spaces of worlds that are less permissive than worlds where "anything goes", but more permissive than ordinary possible worlds. There will also be papers on other approaches to hyperintensionality, and on other issues involving impossible worlds.
Speakers and participants will include John Bigelow (Monash), Jens Christian Bjerring (ANU), David Braddon-Mitchell (Sydney), Berit Brogaard and Joe Salerno (ANU), David Chalmers (ANU), Max Cresswell (VUW), Lloyd Humberstone (Monash), Mark Jago (Macquarie), Greg Restall (Melbourne), Jonathan Schaffer (ANU), and Wolfgang Schwarz (ANU).
