Barry Lam - The Use of Narrative in Public Philosophy

For those interested in public philosophy, there is a question about how to go about doing it in a way that is highly impactful, accessible, but faithful to the work, and reaches new audiences.  In this talk I'm going to go through the two year history of building Hi-Phi Nation into the first narrative-driven show about philosophy, what goes into making the show, and how it can be a platform for philosophers to produce narrative-driven pieces of their own to reach a large audience in an impactful way.  Along the way I talk about a narrative structure and its relation to a philosophical issue, the aesthetics of audio production, and how any philosopher can participate.  This talk is not going to contain much substantive philosophy, but is about a new technique by which an individual, team, or department of philosophers can try to communicate such work.
