Naturalizing Respect - Philip Pettit (ANU & Princeton)

This Friday, March 19th, Philip Pettit (ANU & Princeton) will present on "Naturalizing Respect".

Abstract: There is hardly a more significant ideal in human relationships, relevant in both ethics and politics, than that of respect. But what is the sort of treatment that respect requires among people? How to characterize it in a way that is broadly faithful to ordinary ways of thinking about respect; that makes it into a descriptively and empirically discernible form of behavior; and that explains why it should be both substantively demanding and intuitively appealing, in the manner of a significant ideal?

The seminar will be held 100% in person from 2:00-3:30pm in the auditorium in the RSSS Building, and will be followed by socializing and a dinner with the speaker. (You can sign up for the dinner here.)
