Brian Garrett (ANU): A chat about fate

In this talk I grapple with fate, discussing, en route, backwards causation, time travel and bringing about the past.  For prep, class should read D Lewis ‘The Paradoxes of Time Travel’ (especially his discussion of Tim the time traveler) and M Dummett ‘Bringing about the Past’ (especially the first half). I will give an utterly compelling proof of that and why the B theory of time leads to fatalism.
