Visiting the Philosophy Department at Cornell University
Friday 8 June 2018

Toby Solomon recently returned from Cornell University where he was a visiting student in the Philosophy Department.  Toby has compiled the below story about his time at Cornell University.

From August 2017 to January 2018 I was a visiting student in the Philosophy Department at Cornell University, studying with Derk Pereboom.  This trip was an excellent opportunity to further the research on my thesis with a leading scholar, make contacts, and experience the culture of philosophy in North America.

Cornell is situated on a beautiful campus in upstate New York, and it was wonderful watching the trees turn from green to orange and red before seeing the first snow falls around Christmas.  During this trip I also had the good luck of being able to give talks to Rutger's Metaphysics Reading Group, the work in progress group at Cornell University, and at MIT in Boston, thanks to a large range of connections that studying at ANU has allowed me to form through our famous visitors season.
