2019 Jack Smart Lecture and Masterclass
Monday 1 July 2019

The ANU School of Philosophy is pleased to be welcoming Professor Frances Kamm, the Henry Rutgers University Professor of Philosophy from Rutgers University, as the presenter at the 2019 Jack Smart Lecture.

As one of the most innovative and influential moral philosophers in the world, Professor Kamm will be presenting on the topic of “Parfit on the Irrelevance of Deontological Distictions”.

The Jack Smart lecture is the flagship annual event of the School of Philosophy at the ANU and this year it will be held on Friday, 19 July from 4:30 at the Australian Centre on China in the World Theatre.

You can sign up at https://jacksmart19.eventbrite.com.au

Furthermore, on July 17 Professor Kamm will be giving a graduate masterclass on some of her recent work.

The focus will be Professor Kamm's work in progress “The Place of Self in Duty and Supererogation” and on Kamm's forthcoming book, "Almost Over: Aging, Dying, Death". Particular emphasis will be placed on her chapter discussing the ethics of assisted suicide (see Chapter 7).

The masterclass will take place in the Coombs Extension Building, Room 1.04, on July 17 from 1pm-4pm. The event will be open to all, but HDR students are particularly encouraged to attend, and will be prioritised in the discussion.

You can sign up at fmkamm.eventbrite.com.au
