Consciousness and Continuity

Consider your visual experience of a blue sky or your auditory experience of a rising pitch. Are these experiences continuous or discrete? If we appeal solely to introspection, then it may seem that we have reason to think that such experiences are continuous. I'll first clarify what it means to say that an experience is continuous or discrete. Then I'll develop a discrete model of the aforementioned kinds of experiences. As a result, I'll argue that introspection leaves open whether our experiences are continuous or discrete. I’ll also argue that, perhaps surprisingly, the discrete theory may better fit our introspective evidence.
