Recently, philosophers and social scientists have turned their attention to the study of social norms.  In the course of this talk we restrict our attention to so-called discriminatory norms and discuss the emergence of such norms in a variety of strategic scenarios. Through the use of a simple formal model, we uncover that norms disadvantaging minority groups are exceedingly likely to be adopted by the community.  Finally, we explore one means of jettisoning discriminatory behaviour from the population.
