Ana Tanasoca (Essex): Enfranchising Unaffected Interests
In this paper I flesh out a novel answer to the problem of constituting the demos, the unaffected principle. I start from recent proposals of including the unaffected in the demos on the basis of reciprocal representation agreements. I examine different possible versions of an unaffected principle and argue for the “also enough unaffected” version as the best one. I next explore the special appeal of the inclusion of the unaffected in comparison to other alternatives for infusing impartiality to our political decisions.
