Erick Llamas (ANU): "The Realiser-realiser Identity Theory of Mind"

In this talk I will present a new kind of identity theory of mind that I call the realiser-realiser identity theory. Roughly put, the view holds that for any mental property M there is a physical property P such that the realiser of M is identical with the realiser of P. I will argue that this identity theory is well equipped to handle a series of important problems in the metaphysics of mind. In particular, I will argue that it can handle the problems raised by conceivability arguments, the problem of mental causation and the problem of multiple realisation of the mental.
